NZIA

Also called: Net-Zero Industry Act

In one line

EU regulation (2024) targeting 40% of EU demand for strategic net-zero technologies to be met by EU manufacturing by 2030.

What it means

The Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA), in force since 2024, sets a binding EU target: 40% of annual EU demand for strategic net-zero technologies — solar, wind, batteries, electrolysers, heat pumps — met by EU manufacturing by 2030. Mechanisms include fast-track permitting (max 9–12 months for Strategic Projects), procurement preferences (30% weight on non-price criteria in renewable auctions), and access to Innovation Fund / InvestEU support. The NZIA is the EU's market-pull answer to the US IRA's per-watt 45X subsidy.
