US federal tax credit equal to 30% of qualifying solar and storage installation cost, extended through 2032 under the IRA.
What it means
The Investment Tax Credit (ITC) is the single largest US federal incentive for solar and battery storage. The 2022 IRA extended the residential and commercial ITC at 30% through 2032 (stepping down 2033–2034). Stackable bonus credits include +10% for domestic content (IRA 45X-aligned), +10% for energy community siting, and +10–20% for low-income community projects — bringing maximum total to 50–60%. Standalone batteries became ITC-eligible in 2023.
