LFP
Also known as: Lithium Iron Phosphate, LiFePO4
Battery cathode chemistry — the dominant choice for stationary energy storage due to long cycle life, safety, and cost.
Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) is a lithium-ion battery cathode chemistry that dominates stationary energy storage. Advantages: 6,000–10,000 cycle life, excellent thermal stability, lower cost per kWh than NMC ($84/kWh vs $110/kWh in Q1 2026). Disadvantages: lower energy density (160 Wh/kg) than NMC (240 Wh/kg).
