RPO
Also known as: Renewable Purchase Obligation
Indian regulation requiring DISCOMs and large consumers to source a minimum percentage of electricity from renewable sources.
Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) is an Indian regulatory mechanism that mandates state DISCOMs and qualifying open-access consumers to source a minimum percentage of electricity from renewables. The MoP target trajectory mandates rising RPO percentages through 2030. Failure to meet RPO triggers REC purchase or penalty obligations.
