Interconnection
In one line
Process and infrastructure required to connect a new generator to the transmission or distribution grid.
What it means
Interconnection is the regulatory, technical, and physical process of connecting a new generator to the grid. Studies, upgrades to existing transmission, and queue positions can add years to project timelines. Interconnection queue backlogs are a binding constraint on solar and BESS deployment in most major markets, including most US ISOs and Indian state utilities.
