Central Inverter
Large 1–5 MW inverter handling power conversion for a substantial section of a utility-scale solar plant.
Central inverters are large-format (1–5 MW per unit) inverters that handle DC-to-AC conversion for a substantial section of a utility-scale solar plant. They retain a niche in very large (200+ MW) projects and very hot climates where centralised cooling helps. Market share has declined from majority to 32% as string inverters scaled up.
